Over the years I’ve learnt some important lessons due to my experience with a variety of problems on packaging lines that customers ask me to solve for them.
These are customers who’ve had the same packaging line for decades and want to automate and optimise the process to insert spouts in the paperboard pack.
I’ve noticed the main stumbling block for companies is first and foremost finding space for a new machine, and last but not least they don’t want to stop production for 2/3 months to get the new system up and running.
These are the main reasons why many companies choose not to update their production line for years.
In most cases the biggest problem is the carton feeder. The system often gets blocked at this point because of insufficient automation for processes to be fast and streamlined.
I remember a few particular cases that are excellent examples. A well-known North European company operating in the food sector had a problem with adjusting the pusher acting on the cartons; the suction cups often failed to transfer the carton to the line.
On the question of production flexibility, a multinational producing washing powders had a problem with a carton feeder that could only hold and place packaging cartons of one particular size on the packaging line, making it all but impossible to use other sizes.
To solve these and other problems on packaging lines we came up with the idea of replacing the weakest link in the production process, developing a flexible carton feeder companies could use to optimise their resources.
In 2005 we met the challenge and developed the Tacom Carton Feeder, that lets you adjust the carton pusher system to adapt to existing packaging lines already used by a company, optimising production times.
Each system is studied and tailor-made to meet the customer’s specific requirements, guaranteeing significant gains in terms of productivity.
