The Tereos Group, Europe’s largest sugar producer, faced the challenge of creating hermetic and sustainable packaging for ultra-fine sugar. Through collaboration with Tacom and Betti Macchine, an innovative solution was developed for cardboard boxes using sift-proof technology, ensuring hermeticity and preserving the quality of the finest products.
Packaging ultra-fine sugar and other fine food products requires a packaging solution that prevents any product leakage and guarantees optimal preservation. Previous solutions, such as Tetrapak, although effective, were less eco-friendly and significantly more expensive. The Tereos Group sought an innovative solution that met both sustainability and performance requirements.
In collaboration with Betti Macchine, a packaging line compatible with sift-proof technology was developed to ensure complete hermeticity of the box, preventing leaks of ultra-fine products. Using the Model 15 spout inserting machine, the Tereos Group adopted a hermetic box for ultra-fine sugar (also suitable for flour and powdered milk), replacing the previous solution with one that was eco-friendlier and more efficient, while eliminating the need for an internal bag.
The new line provides a safe and sustainable packaging solution for very fine products, reducing environmental impact at the same time. Choosing a hermetic box with sift-proof technology improves the product’s shelf life and reduces waste during packaging, transportation, and storage, meeting the productivity and sustainability needs of the Tereos Group.
The collaboration with the Tereos Group demonstrates how packaging innovation can enhance product quality while ensuring greater sustainability. Tacom and Betti Macchine have addressed this challenge with advanced, environmentally friendly solutions, reaffirming their commitment to the future of food packaging.
